Secret Life Of Pets review

*Warning! This post contains spoilers! Don't read if you plan on watching the movie!*

Hey Y’all!

Today I have a review of... Drum roll please... The Secret Life Of Pets!

The movie I was so anxiously awaiting. The commercials were perfection and I was just so excited!

Guys... This movie....

Was. Horrible.

Let me give you a summary.

Okie dokie, the start of the movie is super adorable with ultra adorable characters and many laugh out loud moments. Lilah was thinking “Oh wow! I love this! Super cute! Yay!” But then all of Lilah’s dreams were crushed when a wee little bunny rabbit was introduced. Let me explain.

Well... Max, the main character (who is a dog) loves his owner Katie. Max gets upset when Katie brings home a new dog Duke. Max pulls a stunt and tries to get Duke kicked out. This makes Duke angry. While at the dog park Duke gets revenge and pulls max by the collar into the busy streets, and they first meet a gang of vicious cats, and then they meet a gang of forgotten (or ‘flushed’) pets. This gang is of many different types of animals including crocodiles, a tattooed pig, a bulldog, and the leader, snowball, the bunny....

So, Max and Duke join this gang, but the gang doesn’t let in domestic animals, because the gang hates humans (since humans are who gave these pets away.) Max and Duke think the gang can help them get home so they lie to get into the gang.

Duke says something along these lines:
“Humans? We hate them! We KILLED our owners.” The rabbit wants more details, so duke tells him that he murdered them using a blender. A BLENDER. That was when I realized this movie was not what I thought it would be.

The movie goes on this way, and eventually Max’s friends realize he’s gone. Gidget, who, by the way may be the reason I’m giving this movie as many stars as I am, goes to find Max. So eventually she finds him, and you’d think the movie would end. But no! She tells the gang that Max is a pet, and now, not only is the gang plotting to take out the entire human race (At one point in the movie they used those exact words,) they are also out to kill Max and Duke. The main characters. OF A CHILDREN’S MOVIE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. There was a scene where the rabbit is drawing a map of how to get to Max, he was using a red marker. When he shows where Max is, he presses down on the marker and the ink (which indicated blood) goes everywhere. My mom and I shared glances.

Not only was there indicated death in this movie, there was actual death! A viper, which the flushed pets use to initiate the new flushed pets (By a bite,) dies accidentally at the hands of duke.

Seriously.

Anddd lets not forget the scene which would have had me bawling as a little kid. I would put money on the fact that I would have made my family leave the theater. They make you so sure that Max and Duke are going to drown, when the animal control bus falls into the river. Like there is soft music and the two fully submerged dogs stare at each other while preparing to take their last breath. And then that stupid little bunny pops in and saves them.

But that wasn’t the only part that would have had me in tears. Duke was sharing his past, about how he loved his owner so much (and it showed super cute images of Duke as a puppy) But Duke shared how he got lost and ended up in the pound. He also subtly  mentioned that he was there for a long time, and if he went back (which they almost do several times) he would be euthanized. I think that statement would have gone over kid’s head, since it wasn’t said that directly, but still this is heavy stuff for kids!
But anyways, Max convinces Duke to go back to his owner’s house, and he does. But he shortly found out that his owner was DEAD.

About 3/4 of the way through this movie I was practically praying for it too be over. It was the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Max and Duke escape. Max and Duke are captured by animal control. The flushed pets catch up to Max and Duke. Max and Duke escape. Max and Duke are captured by animal control. The flushed pets catch up to Max and Duke. I was so done with this movie. So naturally I was so relived when the credits rolled. But as soon as I was out of the theater I was struck with the realization that my mom and I were the only ones who hated it! Okay, okay, I know everyone is titled to their opinion, but I just can’t stand this movie!

So, I am giving it two stars. I would be one, but I cannot discredit the humor and cute characters (especially Gidget.) But even then I definitely do not recommend this movie to anyone, especially children under the age of 9.

So that was my opinion on The Secret Life of Pets. If you liked this post, let me know, and I’ll do more reveiws in the future!

Paradise - A lyric photoshoot.

When she was just a girl
                                            She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep

                   And dreamed of para-para-paradise
                               Para-para-paradise
                               Para-para-paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
When she was just a girl
                        She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth

Life goes on, it gets so heavy
                       The wheel breaks the butterfly
                             Every tear a waterfall
In the night, the stormy night
                           She'd close her eyes
In the night, the stormy night
                                Away she'd fly

                                       And dream of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
                                 Para-para-paradise
                                              Oh

                     She dreamed of para-para-paradise
                               Para-para-paradise
                               Para-para-paradise

Hello Kitty

Hey everybody! Sorry it's been a while since I've last posted... It's harder than I thought juggling two blogs! I do have some more posts planned, so I won't leave you for a month again anytime soon!

But anywhooo... Today I have a photoshoot of Nellie in a shirt that I recently sewed. But before I show you that, here is some close up pictures of the shirt:

The tank is made of a pale pink fabric, which was originally a baby onesie that I found at a thrift shop. It has a fuzzy Hello Kitty face, with the words "Hello Kitty" below it.

This was my one of my first times sewing 18 inch doll clothes, so it does have some imperfections, but I am pleased with the outcome... And I kind of wish I had one my size... ;)

Now onto the photoshoot!

I thought I had more pictures than that! Oh well. I hope you enjoyed looking at them!

American Girl release

Hello!
Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts on American Girl's latest release.

This isn't the whole release, just the stuff for dolls.   I left out one thing because I couldn't find a picture, but you can find everything at AmericanGirl.com

First up is Lea's Celebration Outfit.

$34.00
This is really cute! I've actually liked this ever since I saw a leaked photo before Lea was released. I pretty much like everything about it, the dress, the shoes, and the headband! I also think Lea looks beautiful in it! This may end up on my birthday list :) :)

Next up is Lea's Beach Picnic Set.

$34.00
I do not like this. There is nothing that makes me want to buy this! I mean, the stuff is cute, but for thirty four dollars? No thank you!

Next up is the Stars & Stripes Set
$34.00
Ok, what?? You can get miniature plastic food and a piece of fabric  for thirty for dollars, or you get get two outfits for thirty four dollars. How is that right?? I would much rather spend my money on this. I mean, look at those little goggles! I really like this, although I wish they were two $17 dollar sets. That way if you just wanted the swim outfit, you wouldn't also have to buy the gymnastics outfit.

Next up is the Spirit Squad Outfit.

$28.00
This is super cute! I love the little pom poms. I most likely won't be getting this, but it is very cute!

Next up is the Pomeranian Puppy

$28.00
I really don't understand American Girl pets. It is a thirty dollar stuffed animal! I don't really get why you would buy this if you can use a regular old stuffed animal. That being said, this is very cute, I just won't be purchasing it.

Next up is the Fur-rocias Pet Outfit

$22.00
What. Even. Is. This?
The only good think about this is the frisbee. The outfit itself, and the price is not my cup of tea.

Next up is the Galaxy Pet Bed
$26.00
This is really cute! I like the colors a lot.

Next up is the Rainbow Collar & Leash.
$12.00
This is okay. Not great, but not bad.

Next up is the Fruity Fun Outfit

$26.00
This would have been mine when I was younger and still into Bitty Babies. It is so cute! I also think it would be cute if it was a bit bigger, for Truly Me dolls.

Finally, Bitty's Gown & Bonnet
$28.00
This is so sweet, but I am a bit confused by it. It seems to be for a christening, but I got the impression that American Girl was not Christian after they featured a gay couple in their magazine. I was a bit surprised, but I still like this.

And that wraps up this post!
Do you agree with me? Disagree with me? I'd love to know!
Thanks for reading!

Project Mc2 doll pictures & review.

Hello! Today I have some pictures of my Project Mc2 doll, Mckeyla McAlister. I will also add a little review at the end, because the photoshoot is too short.

Yes, I know that was super short... I really thought that I had more pictures! Anyways, here is the review!

This is what the doll looks like when you buy her. She comes with a sewn on hat (I cut mine off,) a comb for her hair, an "I didn't know what to wear today so I put on this T-shirt" shirt, a pair of floral shorts, white and red socks, and purple boots, that I must admit, are so cute I want some for myself. Mckeyla has green eyes with really long eyelashes, and dark brown hair that is fun to style.

Pros:
Long hair that is easy to brush
Cute clothes (In my opinion.. XD )
Photogenic
Comes with a comb
Doll can do lots of poses

Cons:
Head is very loose and resembles a bobble head
Hat sewn to hair
Lots of hair falls off at first

Touching a bit more on the last one:
When you first unbox the doll, a lot falls out, but it gets better the more you brush it.

Overall I totally recommend project MC2 dolls! I have two, Mckeyla, the one pictured above, and the Camryn Coyle doll. You can purchase these dolls at Target or Toys R Us's website (You might be able to get them at the store, but I'm not sure.)

I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

P.S. I have been posting a lot at my new blog lilahsbookshelf.wordpress.com . Feel free to take a look by clicking the link!

Vacation

Hey guys, I'm sorry for not posting for so long. I have three reasons.

I was on vacation in Florida
I haven't had much inspiration.
I might be getting bored of this blog.

Regarding the last one, the thing is I am not getting bored if blogging, just this blog. I might start another blog, this time on Wordpress, still keep posting on this one, but have a exciting new blog. I was thinking of themes and I thought maybe reading? I would post book reviews, book related topics to discuss, and all things reading/fandom related. I might even throw a little writing in from time to time. Tell me what you think of this idea!

Aside from that, as you saw, I went on a family vacation. This has been the main reason I haven't blogged. I was too busy basking in the warm sunshine of the Sunshine State itself! It was loads of fun. We found millions trillions of sea shells (okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point,). We had tropical foods such as mango smoothies and fried chicken (wait, what?).  And we escaped the dreary spring of new England for one pleasant, and sadly, much too short week. But now I am home, and I really can't complain. The weather is beautiful here, but still cold compared to Florida. But enough about the weather, I have lots of vacation pictures to show you!!

My favorite ever shell, the wentletrap <3

I love the detail on alligators.

My dream house <3

Sigh... I love palm trees.

Can I please have a pet pelican?

Alligator. I was less than 15 feet away from him!!

I loved this flower.

My family got up every morning and went for a sunrise walk.

Pretty bird

Tree crab *shudders*

A tortise in the road.

Mini whinnie at the beach.

Lizard!

Osprey

Willit

Shark teeth!

My sand mermaid XD

I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into my vacation! It was lots of fun, but it is good to be back home. Also, I will update you on my new blog, if I decide to go forward with it.
Thank you for reading!
